Our Story

Celebrating over 20 years of fundraising events in support of The Light House

In 2002, a group of dedicated volunteers formed the Friends of The Light House, a separate 501(c)(3) community-based organization that hosts several local events to support The Light House, a homeless prevention support center in Annapolis, Maryland.

Our goals are to:

  • Raise Funds
  • Grow Community Involvement
  • Increase Awareness

With your support, Friends of The Light House can continue to provide much-needed funding to The Light House and enable its staff to serve vulnerable individuals and families in our community.

Why We Fundraise

The Light House

A place of belonging and hope for our most vulnerable neighbors since 1989

For over 30 years, The Light House has provided shelter, transitional and supportive housing, homelessness prevention, and related support services to people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in Anne Arundel County. Beyond providing food, clothing, and shelter, The Light House also addresses the underlying causes of homelessness, such as lack of marketable job skills, addiction, and the debilitating effects of both mental and physical health issues.

Light House Programs Include:

  • Housing – shelter, homelessness prevention, and transitional housing
  • Employment – provide tools to achieve sustainable employment
  • Social Enterprise – The Light House Bistro restaurant and catering social enterprise provides training and employment opportunities
  • Support Services – food, clothing, case management, laundry, and other basic needs

Light House Bistro

Our full-service restaurant and catering social enterprise provides training and employment opportunities for graduates of Light House programs.

  • DINE IN – Join us for a meal, coffee, and our delicious weekly specials.
  • GRANOLA – Made with love at The Light House Bistro. 100% of the proceeds go back into our mission to rebuild lives with compassion.
  • EVENT SPACE – The perfect place for your next get-together, office party, or family gathering.
  • CATERING – Full-service off-site catering available!
