Chad’s Story

What does a path to stability look like for our neighbors recovering from addiction and trauma? For Chad, this path was an uphill battle. Chad’s struggle with addiction led him to incarceration, physical health issues, and almost losing custody of his son. After serving his sentence, and completing drug court and treatment, Chad knew steady employment would be key to maintaining an upward trend of rehabilitation. However, his history of incarceration and lack of marketable job skills left him at a standstill.

Thankfully, he was referred to The Light House, which provided comprehensive care, hands-on employment training, soft-skills classes, on-the-job training through employer partners, and resume writing assistance. Soon after graduating from Light House employment training and diligently applying for jobs, Chad was offered a full-time position which he has maintained throughout the Covid-19 crisis. “The Light House changed my life, gave me hope, and made me feel that I have a purpose. Now I have a career path with annual raises, tuition for school, health insurance, and retirement options. I’m sober, I have my son, a job I love, a car to get to work, and a safe place to live. I was fresh out of incarceration and rehab, and The Light House helped me with all of this.”
